PRODUCTION OPERATIVE - COMPOUNDING

REPORTS TO: Senior Production Operative
 

LOCATION: Production Department - Barton Stacey

JOB PURPOSE

To manufacture prodcuts to an approved formulation that meet the agreed laboratory specification and manufacturing procedure

KEY TASKS

• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment using PPE and handling equipment available for moving heavy ingredients e.g. product drums and packs
• Handling/ manufacturing products and raw materials by complying with the information within the MSDS's
• Collecting, accurately weighing, and blending ingredients as per formulation - converting weights in kilos and pounds as required
• Operating mechanical valves and electrical switches in order to mix and transfer product and subsequent cleaning of all vessels and equipment used
• Picking and preparing products for despatch (initially sampling to QC), using the correct packing & labelling
• Liaising with the Production Office, reporting on progress and recording stock movements and discrepancies
• Planning and organising workload with area's other activities
• Conversing with third parties eg Auditors, Customers and outside Agencies
• Deputising and covering for holidays and sickness as required
• Undertaking such duties as may reasonably be required by the company from time to time  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Essential : 
 Precision and Accuracy in handling and weighing ingredients
 Awareness of MSDS and Warning labels
 Awareness of H&S policies and procedures
 Understanding of product quality safeguards
 Good numeric and literacy skills 

Desirable: 
 Basic IT skills
 Food or Chemical Production Experience
 Understanding of basic Food Hygiene regulations
 Forklift truck licence
